Project

Santa Cruz Residential Renovation

Scope

This began as a beautiful turn-of-the-century home with excellent bones and became a chef-entertainer’s dream. Large family gatherings were the driving consideration for significant alterations.

The renovation of this 1895 mansion drew inspiration from its historical detail and the nautical influence of its Santa Cruz location. Adding a mere 80 square feet allowed us to expand the original 1-½ baths to four full dramatic bathrooms with Moroccan tile, Carrara marble, and custom teak detailing. By removing a wall in the dining room, we increased the space for entertaining that offers diners a view into the light, open, kitchen. The kitchen’s vertical-grain Douglas fir cabinetry and floors complement the solid Carrara countertops and preserved brick fireplace. The chef’s kitchen is equipped with a prep sink, dish sink, bar sink, two dishwashers, stove-side pot filler, and recessed stainless composting system.
